Days 5 and 6

June 27 – Beginning our Alaskan cruise

Packed up and caught Ubers to Canada Place, where our ship was leaving. Despite ordering an UberX, it wasn’t big enough for four of us – not that the driver tried. He was too busy reprimanding us for not having enough Ubers.

Jo, Wayne and I got dropped at a different place to the other two Ubers. Danny found us but in the confusion Dave was waiting at a different luggage drop point. As he had Jo’s passport, a slight panic set in. Luckily, we had phone connection and were able to reunite.

No real trouble going through customs and immigration although I got finger printed on both hands and Wayne not at all. Madonna and Danny were also taken into a different line and ended up coming out after us.

Crisis averted!

We were onboard and having a drink by 1:30. Ship left port just after 3.

Under the bridge!
It got a little chilly.
Controversial yellow card – can’t remember the incident.

June 28 – At sea

Jo and I started the day with a walk around the jogging track. It was extremely windy with a bit of drizzly rain but we were determined to earn our day 2 treats.

Everyone did lots of different things during the day. Jo and I tried to do two exercise classes but the first was a no-show by the instructors and the second stretch class was maxed out. Same happened to Dave when he tried to go to the gym – so many people and not an available machine. Jo and I attended a ‘cooking salmon’ talk, Wayne did a binoculars talk and Donna, Danny and Madonna went to a whale talk. Donna enjoyed some time in the spa and Mark sorted his IT issues at Guest Services.

In the afternoon, the boys did a beer tasting class and we girls did a mixology class.

After the beer class.
Cocktails here we come!

We had dinner in the dining room where I ordered the lobster, not realising you had to pay for it. You should have seen Wayne’s face when I told him, exaggerating the cost from $25 to $250. Not happy, Jan. Definitely, a yellow card this time.

On our way to watch the bands, we met a lovely couple, Brooke and Trey. They joined our 80s Trivia team and the girls hit the dance floor, some harder than others.

Dave and Jo stayed out late while the rest of us went to bed. A great day at sea!
