Day 8: June 30

Woke up in Skagway. Our tour leader (Wayne) under-estimated the temperature. Stepped off the boat and the temperature had dropped significantly.

We jumped on a White Pass and Yukon Route train carriage and began the climb up the mountain. Hard to believe gold miners used to make this trip and have to take one ton of food and equipment.

We walked into town which was jam-packed with tourists – four cruise ships in the little town of Skagway. Couldn’t get a place for eight to eat so we returned to the ship, braving the Skagway winds to get back.

I got into a bit of trouble from the tour captain of the day (Wayne) for taking over the lead.

We went to the bar to watch the football (soccer) and that is where the boys stayed. Donna went to the spa, Dave and Jo went for a sleep and Madonna and I headed back into town.

Those winds! One step forward and three steps back.
While we were away, the steady demise began.
Doesn’t even like this beer but apparently loved it this afternoon.
I love margaritas!
Wayne earned so many yellow cards. Who knows what this one was for!

After a quick and easy dinner, we began trawling the bands and entertainment. I was the first to leave and gradually, the group dissipated. Jo and Dave were once again the ‘stayers’ of the night.

Seats by the piano bar to watch Zac and Casey.
Dave and Danny with Pedro and Reece at the Rolling Stone bar.
And it concludes. These two were sent home by Jo. Little did she know, it took them an hour, a stop by the tequila bar and trying to invite a number of innocent Americans to Australia.
