July 14 – off to Toronto
Spent a lot of the day travelling as we lost an hour. Arrived at 2pm with Toronto suffering a heatwave. Wayne took us on a train/ subway experience to get to our hotel.
We ventured out about 6pm and walked to the dockside.
We had a bite to eat at a place on the dock but the service was sub-par so we caught a tram and the subway back to the hotel and retired for the night.
July 15: Bucket list day – Niagara Falls
Lots of warnings about air quality today but not as hot. We were picked up just after 9 and driven to the falls.
The falls did not disappoint. They were spectacular and the boat ride was worth the $45.
A couple of sleepyheads on the way back. The skyline was shrouded in haze and it was quite eerie coming back into Toronto – almost apocalyptic!
We headed out for what we didn’t know – our biggest bill on tour. I think we were had by the Irish decoys at Rex’s. Saw the Australians coming.
Last sighting of five team members: being led by Rose into a private bar, Fraternal Order of Eagles – admittance by invitation only. I’ll get the stories tomorrow.
Stories are in. To quote Danny, ‘The night got a little loose last night. We made more friends. Madonna and I went out for some street food after we got back. Made some Indian friends and sampled the popular tea.’
